The Sidekiq™ SDR is a breakthrough miniature software defined radio (SDR) platform,
providing a flexible 70MHz - 6GHz RF transceiver plus programmable logic in a 30x51x5mm
standards compliant MiniPCIe card. With the addition of a Sidekiq SDR, millions of host
devices (laptops, tablet computers, etc.) can immediately be transformed into RF
processing powerhouses. Installation of the Sidekiq SDR is often simplified by the
multi-band antennas that are present in many host platforms supporting MiniPCIe, since
these slots are commonly used for wireless data cards.
Sidekiq enables solutions for RF test and measurement, point-to-point communications,
and a variety of other wireless applications where size, weight, and power consumption
are critical. To support the development of these solutions, the Sidekiq Platform
Development Kit (PDK) provides customers with access to both a software API for
interfacing to the card, as well as the source code for the FPGA reference design for
customization. The software API provides an easy-to-use interface for configuring the
RF transceivers and streaming data between the host and Sidekiq over the PCIe interface.
Advanced users can add their own processing blocks to the FPGA to radically increase
the signal processing capabilities of the system.
